What kind of work do you do/business do you run?
Ecoshe is a family initiative bringing together a community of people online who care about their health, the environment, animals and living sustainably.
It’s a place for those who would potentially invest in or help build a residential community living these ideals.
It’s a plant based, vegan community that would also be alcohol free, drug free and smoke free within the complex.
We are based in Mauritius but our message is global.
What do you love about it?
That it’s unique and that it may be the first of its kind.
What’s your ‘why’ in life? What drives you?
Because we want to live there, it will be awesome! This lifestyle brings so much freedom, it may not feel like it initially but to be free from drugs, alcohol, meat and smoking brings such liberation and when you’ve taken care of yourself, you can then take care of the planet.
Why are you a member of the Vegan Women’s Leadership Network?
Being vegan is one of my proudest achievements and I want to share the experience. I truly believe a vegan world would look completely different, more compassion, more love, more trees, more food, better health, more connection.
What’s been the biggest highlight or ‘wow’ moment of your career/business/professional life?
The 8,000 followers I’ve gathered during COVID-19 when I used the opportunity to launch Ecoshe.earth. I feel there has been a shift towards health and sustainability.
How do you handle failures, fear and disappointment?
I get knocked down, and I get up again. Success is never giving up.
What would you tell your 16-year-old self?
Go vegan sooner! You don’t need to be drunk to dance and have fun.
Which women inspire you and why?
Brene Brown, Shame researcher, her talks are really inspiring. To dare greatly we have to be vulnerable, we have to show up, we have to face our fears.
What’s been the biggest obstacle you’ve faced and how has it helped mould who you are now?
Losing my mother and sister tragically at the age of 28, that was the day I turned vegan, alcohol free and smoke free. I knew if I didn’t channel that energy into something positive I would become addicted to the opposite.
Now my hope is to inspire others onto a happier, healthier path.
What’s your super-power? What are you amazing at?
Smiling and being the eternal optimist. Never giving up.
What brings you joy?
Seeing the world slowly shift towards a plant based diet, I follow all the plant based news, I love watching the debates, I love when a friend or fan makes that connection.
I also love that my husband and 2 boys are proudly vegan.
How do you define success, and how will you know when you’ve achieved it?
Success to me, is being the happiest and healthiest that I can be, most of the time. I say this because opposite values are complementary, we can’t always be happy and it’s those moments of sadness and challenge that allow those moments of joy to be experienced fully.
This will be a lifetime challenge and I’ll know I’ve achieved it on my deathbed when I’m still smiling and not experiencing a long drawn out passing over.
What’s your vision for yourself and your business/career for the future?
To develop many of these intentional communities around the world, our vision can be found here: Ecoshe Vision for Sustainable Communities.
The short-term goal is to invite thousands of followers to our social media platforms, to share our message of sustainable living with them and then bring together these like minded people to live closer together, to live these ideals as a community and from there reach into their local communities to make more of a change together.
Anything else you want to tell us?
We live on a beautiful island called Mauritius off the east coast of Africa. We invite you to come and join us here to build this dream together.
